He's not sure which hotel he booked and he might switch up his driver Monday morning of tournament week.
Look out PGA Tour, here comes David Byrne.
The Essex native and winner of last season's Big Break on the Golf Channel will cash in the most important prize offered by the reality show when he takes part in next week's PGA tour stop in New Orleans.
The Zurich Classic opens Thursday and if he makes the cut, he'll be in the Big Easy through next weekend.
"I've done a good job of not thinking about it for a really long time," Byrne said from his home in Orlando, Fla.
"I'm looking forward to it and I'm sure when they announce my name on the first tee that will seem pretty unreal."
Masters champ Bubba Watson won the Zurich Classic in 2011 over an impressive field that included World No. 2 Luke Donald.
Total purse for the week is US$6,400,000.
"It'll be exciting and interesting to see how they changed the golf course from when I last saw it," the 24-year-old Byrne said of the TPC Louisiana.
Byrne travelled to New Orleans last week to play a couple of practice rounds.
"I like the golf course," he said. "It's kind of funny though, I've worked on hitting a cut for the last year and a half and, at this golf course, you have to hit a draw."
Byrne plans to head back to New Orleans today.
He's still trying to find a driver he likes so he'll visit the Adams Golf equipment trailer first thing Monday.
"I don't think I've found the right shaft for me yet," he said. "I found a three wood that I fell in love with but my driver has been a little inconsistent."
Adams Golf kicked in an equipment contract and $10,000 cash as part of the Big Break spoils.
